We had a pretty mellow day today. Last night, we stayed with Kelly's friend Sarah and her family. After breakfast, Rufus wandered out to take a nap on in the back yard.
Cooper decided that one of the palm trees in the back yard needed pruning, and applied himself to this chore for a while.
After a while, Rufus concluded that the day had grown too hot, and moved inside, where he found a nice soft rug in the entryway, and a teddy bear belonging to Sarah's daughter with which to snuggle.
As is typical with most good things that Rufus comes across, Cooper eventually swiped both.
Eventually, we got around to loading up and heading out. Our route took us past the lower end of Lake Powell, framed by gray clouds and bluish hills in the fading light.
The road then wound down until it crossed the Hoover Dam.
This turned out to be scenic, although smaller than I had imagined.
We were were treated to a picturesque desert sunset...
...drove on into the night, passing a number of interesting wildlife crossing signs.
Finally, we reached the entrance to the Grand Canyon, where we parked for the night. The boys could hardly wait to see it!
