After getting everyone loaded into Harvey the RV, we set off towards Las Vegas, making a pit stop at Sonic along the way so that Kelly could satisfy her yearning for her favorite meal: Cherry Limeaid, a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and Jalapeno Poppers. I indulged myself with an Oreo Cookie Shake.
Given that Kelly was so enthusiastic about her drink, Rufus asked for a sip to see what all the fuss was about. He was not impressed.
We then set off down yet another long, straight section of desert road.
Cooper found this enthralling.
As we neared our destination, we turned north to visit Red Rock Canyon on the recommendation of someone we had met at the RV park the evening before. This turned out to be a great idea, as we drove past spectacular vistas.
After about a half an hour, we sighted our destination, Red Rock Park.
Boys demanded we get out to see of all those red rocks tasted like meat.
Rufus was deeply disappointed to find that the big red rocks tasted like, well, rocks...
Cooper took this news well, but asked that we head back to the RV, given the fact that the heat was making both he and Rufus pant.
Once back aboard Harvey, Cooper took up his station behind the driver's seat.
We continued around the scenic drive within the park, taking in the awesome views.
Upon leaving the park, we made our way into Las Vegas and to the home of a kind Dane owner who had offered to let us stay at her home while in Las Vegas.
On arriving we introduced our boys one at a time to Apollo, our host's three year old Great Dane. Cooper went first, and used his numerous charms to win over his new friend.
After they started playing in earnest, it was interesting to see Cooper pit his agility (gained by having been forced to play with Rufus for the past eight months) against Apollo's substance and strength.
Cooper even made friends with Snoop, their Scottish Terrier...
...and with our host's two daughters...
...as well as one of her teenage sons.
Next, it was Rufus's turn.
Unfortunately, Rufus, who is normally mellow and well behaved, decided that Apollo needed a good humping...
Needless to say, neither Apollo nor his owner appreciated this, and Rufus had to be relegated to the RV. When he was allowed out a bit later (once Apollo had retired into the house), he and Cooper had a wrestling session in the grass of our host's back yard.
He and Rufus then played Keep Away with Kelly using a battered basketball.
Some friends of ours who also live in Vegas showed up to take us to dinner, and brought their two year old daughter Gianna. She immediately started a game of Chase with Cooper.
Boys were both exhausted by this point, and they retired to the RV for a snooze while we went out to dinner.
