After a sound night's sleep in Harvey the RV, we got up and hung out in our host's back yard on a cool, breezy May morning. The weather has turned unseasonably mild for Las Vegas (they had 100+ degree weather here the day before we arrived), and Kelly and Cooper savored this.
Apollo had learned that he needed to be a bit more assertive with Rufus, and he came out to have a play session, putting the extra 30 pounds he has on Rufus to good use.
Apollo then took him for a tour of the property.
Pleasantly exhausted, they both collapsed in the back yard and lolled in the sunshine.
Cooper then came over for a game of Chase with Kelly.
Rufus and Apollo looked on from the shade, resting.
Kelly then came over to say "good morning" to Apollo (who is an extremely sweet boy).
He obliged her with a sloppy Dane kiss.
Apollo and Rufus now started a play session with Cooper. However, Rufus was chagrined to find that this turned into a Danes versus Ridgeback matchup. He did a good job of holding his own, but was definitely challenged by Apollo's size and Cooper's agility (watch for the part where Cooper jumps completely over Apollo).
It was so nice out that we decided to take a few pictures in the yard as well.
Cooper decided that the grass felt so good that he needed a good roll. Apollo, who has a somewhat regal demeanor, found this behavior a bit odd and foolish.
Finally we said our goodbyes to our hostess and her husband, and loaded up the boys for a drive across Las Vegas to visit Kelly's best friend and her family.
Once we arrived, Cooper immediately made himself at home in the lap of Sarah, Kelly's best friend.
The day had started to warm up, so we decided to put up the portable wading pool we had brought on the trip for the boys. Gianna, Sarah's daughter, thought this was a great idea.
Rufus came over to cool his paws in the water as well.
Cooper, however, was having none of this (despite coaxing from Kelly). Apparently, the wading pool looked too much like a tub for his taste (he being no fan of baths).
After some struggling, Kelly settled with a bit of snuggling with her big doofus.
After this reassurance, Cooper decided that the wading pool at least made a good Dane-sized water bowl.
Rufus and Cooper decided to have a chase session to take full advantage of Sarah's yard.
This, combined with their earlier adventures at Apollo's house, left them so tired that they decided to crash out for a nap.
Rufus's only complaint was that the dappled sunlight kept getting in his eyes.
After feeding the boys their dinner, we headed out with Sarah and her husband Matt for a dinner of our own, and then took in O by Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio.
